Come Boating with Us!
Sailing & Power Boating
We offer spectacular sailing and power boating throughout Manhasset Bay and beyond, and our location provides a well- protected mooring field with a fast, easy route to Long Island sound.
Today, the Club’s fleet ranges from one-design, to ocean going sailboats, state-of- the-art power boats, Lasers, and kayaks, too.
During busy summer weekends, two first-class launches assure prompt, reliable service to and from members’ boats.
Robust education and social events contribute to an environment which generates unforgettable experiences on the water, as well as lifelong friendships.
Boat Sharing Program
The Boat Sharing Program at NSYC allows you, your family, and friends to use a well- maintained Colgate 26 sailboat, without the need to buy, insure, or deal with the tasks that come with owning a boat.
Our boat, Under Toad, is cooperatively maintained by Boat Sharing participants, experienced club members, and paid professionals.
The Program allows use of Under Toad, with all member benefits. Membership in the Program is available to members of NSYC only and runs from May 16th (our Club Commissioning Day) through October.
Junior and Adult Sailing Programs
Starting June 29th, the Junior Sailing Camp Program is open to children of members, relatives of members, and on a limited basis, non-members. The Camp is for swimmers ages 6-16, with little or no sailing experience, as well as advanced beginners interested in honing their skills or learning to race.
Led by a certified sailing instructor, the Camp teaches the basics of sailing, while instilling confidence on the water.
Beginning July 2026, the Adult Sailing Program is available to adults, ages 18 and up, with little or no sailing experience, as well as advanced beginners interested in honing their skills or learning to race.
Private or Semi-Private, Evening or Weekend lessons configured to the needs of the interested party are available
Racing
In sailboat racing, there are no out of bounds lines on the floor or referees to call fouls. The rules are self-enforced and administered within the fleet. A basic understanding of a set of important rules will ensure that everyone has fun and gets home safely.
Members are treated to an enticing collection of Club races and Open Regattas made up of one-design and handicapped races.
The Club prides itself on its skilled racing skippers, their crews and the Race Committees that run the races.
Participation in ad hoc racing events with other yacht clubs on Manhasset Bay, contributes to the classic “Corinthian Spirit” that all sailors savor.
Years of Tradition
The North Shore Yacht Club was founded in 1871 and has been a cornerstone of American yachting for over 150 years.
Years on Manhasset Bay
Since 1933, the Club has been located on the north shore of Manhasset Bay, providing a scenic and well-protected harbor for its members.
Racing Trophies
The Club hosts multiple annual sailing races, competing for more than 10 historic trophies, including the Snyder Cup, Borden Cup, and the Commodore’s Cup.
Become a Member
The North Shore Yacht Club is for people who love boating, with membership options and fees that are a fraction of the cost of other yacht clubs and marinas. While our fleet consists mainly of sailboats ranging from small one-designs to ocean-going vessels, we also welcome power boaters. The Club also offers a Boat Sharing Program for those without a boat, and Adult and Junior Sailing programs for sailors with little or no sailing experience, as well as advanced beginners interested in honing their skills or learning to race
During the sailing season, free introductory sailing outings are offered by members with boats for prospective members.
